This place is an absolute gem! Great pastas, the nicest people and a comfortable cozy wooden dining room. Perfect for a group dinner or just a quick lunch. The paperdelle with tomato cream and bacon sauce was tangy, smoky and particularly delicious.
Absolutely loved this cozy little unassuming Italian restaurant. Such a cute vibe and very authentic Italian dishes. I got the bacon and tomato cream pasta which was delicious. We also got the endive salad, an artichoke salad (highly recommend) and the pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage. Good wine selection and it’s low key a Steelers fan bar!
Nice family kind of restaurant. Food was homey and delicious. I loved the homemade carbonara and eggplant parm. I’ll definitely be back!
Walked in for a table of 4 on a Sunday on a long weekend. Literally taking the time to write this review over our last glass of wine and dessert. I can’t say enough good things. It’s uncrowded, no frills, incredibly attentive staff, makes you feel right at home or better yet at the local trattoria in Italy. Ordering 6 different dishes and everything was perfectly flavorful, cooked well, not a bad thing. Simple but lovely wine list. We’ll be back. Thank you!
We went to Scalino because we were visiting our daughter in Greenpoint. It’s low key with great food, good service and a nice menu of food. I saw the pizza go by to another table and had to order it. Was fantastic. I told the owner and he took me in the back to show me the pizza oven. Very happy we went there!
Great local spot with friendly service. We stopped in early on a Sunday night and were seated immediately. We started with the meatballs and each ordered a pasta (homemade lasagna and the lamb ragu). Super delicious and well priced. We’ll be back!
SOOOOOOOOO good! I understand all the hype now. I love how cozy it is, a true mom and pop restaurant through and through. Their dishes are FIRE, all the pastas we tried were amazing (I’d say their gnocchi dish is the best I’ve had in NYC). Beats all the other fancier Italian places I’ve been to. Only problem is it is super popular, so could be super hard or a long wait to get a table, especially during weekends. However it’s worth the wait for sure. Desserts were also very good, especially the panna cotta!
You must try their gnocchi dishes! So fluffy and a perfect bite. it is honestly the best gnocchi I’ve had in my life - i like it with the meat sauce. all of their pasta dishes were delicious. We devoured them so fast. The service here is great. I like how they have a menu with iPads and photos. Definitely one of the most underrated Italian restaurants in town.
